Renaissance New Richmond Inc. is a 501(c)(3) all-volunteer nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting cultural and economic growth in New Richmond, Ohio. Our mission is to help our community transition from its historic reliance on coal-burning power plants toward a vibrant economy built on river recreation, outdoor festivals, handicraft manufacturing, concerts, heritage tourism, and improved quality of life for residents.

Volunteer Grant Writer

Role Overview

We are seeking passionate Volunteer Grant Writers to join our team. Grant writers will help secure funding from local, state, and national sources to support our programs, events, and long-term economic development initiatives. This is a meaningful opportunity to directly contribute to revitalizing our Appalachian community.

Responsibilities

  • Research grant opportunities from government agencies, foundations, and corporations aligned with our mission.

  • Review eligibility requirements and prepare funding calendars of upcoming opportunities.

  • Write compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and supporting documents.

  • Collaborate with board members and community leaders to gather information for proposals.

  • Track submitted applications, deadlines, and reporting requirements.

  • Assist in creating templates and grant-related resources for organizational use.

  • Provide updates on grant progress and results to leadership.

Qualifications

  • Strong writing, research, and communication skills.

  • Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with a volunteer team.

  • Prior grant writing experience (preferred, but not required—training/resources can be provided).

  • Passion for community development, cultural preservation, and rural revitalization.

Time Commitment

  • Flexible, estimated 5–10 hours per week (depending on availability).

  • Remote participation is possible; occasional virtual or in-person meetings with the board may be requested.

  • Participation in Village Council meetings and/or special events.
